Jeremy Thompson, Managing Director, Cision EMEA
Jeremy currently runs Cision EMEA. He is based in London but is also responsible for the Group’s businesses in Stockholm, Frankfurt, Lyon and Portugal. Jeremy was previously CEO of Gorkana Group, which Cision acquired in October 2014. He reports to CEO, Peter Granat.
He began his career in publishing as a graduate trainee at the Thomson Corporation in 1996 selling legal information to lawyers at a time when the industry was transitioning from print to digital products and workflow tools. He held a number of roles in sales, marketing and product development at Sweet and Maxwell and Westlaw UK, before moving to United Business Media where he was a Product Development Manager at PR Newswire, building out their monitoring and analysis capability around their core distribution business.
Jeremy subsequently developed a relationship with Xtreme News who became PRN’s monitoring provider, which is what ultimately led him to move into the media monitoring sector in 2001. Initially, he ran the operations of the news division of Xtreme Information and subsequently worked closely with the Deloitte mergers advisory team to lead the integration of Durrants and Xtreme News in 2004.
Jeremy became Managing Director of Durrants after it was acquired by management and Exponent Private Equity in 2006. Jeremy and his team then led three acquisitions to create Gorkana Group, the market leading workflow solution for PR professionals in the UK, with ambitions to build Gorkana out to be a global business which led to the sale to Cision in 2014.
Jeremy is also Chairman of one of the industry’s leading trade groups, AMEC (International Association for the Measurement & Evaluation of Communication), where he has been a Board Member for several years. Jeremy sees AMEC as a vehicle for professionalizing media measurement and raising the profile of the industry.
Finally, Jeremy also sits on the Development Board of Bowel Cancer UK where he plays an active part in raising awareness of the disease.
